My Favorite Pins This Week

I love this idea for story prompting found here. The kids would LOVE to come in and see a little scene set up for them to write about.  It would be great for working on predictions also. 

We are working on retelling so much lately and this anchor chart would be perfect for what we are talking about. The idea comes from Spotlight on Kindergarten.

And...I have been waiting all year for Deanna Jump's Dinosaur Unit found here. I love the idea of hiding a dinosaur inside a paper mache egg and making inferences about what's inside.  Then the egg mysteriously hatches while they are at recess.  Such a fun way to start a unit! 

100th Day Fun

Our 100th day celebration was so much fun! We made hats using sentence strips and strips of colored paper.  The kids got 10 colored strips and had to put 10 stickers, foam shapes, dots, or decorations on each strip to make 100.  I got the idea from The Kindergarten Smorgasboard who has about a million hat ideas to go with lessons. We also did a fun moving activity to see how many times we could jump, blink, and write our name in 100 seconds.  There is a great power point that runs through all the activities here. I made a little worksheet to go with the power point, it's free to download on my TpT here.

Ice Sculpture Day

We did a fun messy science experiment the other day using ice.  I had parent send in various shapes, colors, and sizes of ice to school.  Some of our ice was even colored and had toys frozen inside!  By sprinklings (lots) of salt on the ice and holding another piece to it, they stick together.  The kids had an awesome time making sculptures out of the ice!
