How to Grow a Seed

Get a pot or can. First you get some dirt.

Next, you get some seeds. Step 4, poke holes in the dirt.

Step 5, put some seeds in the dirt. Get some dirt and spread the dirt over the seeds.

Water 5 times a week. Can you please not step on it?

You did it!

The Search for the Dragons

Pixie said to her mom, when can I look for the lost dragons?

Her mom said, you will need this.  I do not need all this stuff said Pixie.

So Pixie set off to the forest.  Pixie gasped, the dragon!

She went home to show her mom.

Mom! Mom! Look! Look! The dragon egg.

Continuing our Weight and Measurement Unit

We learned how to use a balance scale today and why it's more effective than just guessing using our hands.  The class got to pick from a variety of items to compare the weights of, then they recorded which one was heavier!

New Math Unit

We've moved from our addition and subtraction unit into weighing and measuring.  We started off the unit by learning the words "heavier" and "lighter." We talked today about when something is big, it doesn't always mean it's heavier.

First, we compared a bag of coins and a bag of empty eggs.

Next, the class got a list of items around the classroom to compare weights of.  They colored lighter items yellow and darker items blue.

At the end we compared our results and found that some of us had a hard time comparing things like a pencil and an eraser because they were close to the same weight.  We will introduce balance scales tomorrow to show that scales are much more accurate than we are.

Kindergarten Play

Our class performed our play "Down in Leapfrog Pond" yesterday and they did so good! I am so proud of them for all their hard work memorizing lines and practicing for the play.

Chicken Dance

We've been talking about characters during our reading time, so I thought it would be fun to do some art and writing responses with Chicken Dance.  We talked about the characters and did a comparison of the ducks and chickens.  We also wrote about our favorite parts.  Finally, we got to draw our favorite characters and watercolor them in.  They turned out so cute!

We have chickens, ducks and "Elvis Poultry"
