Parent Drawing Lesson

Were so lucky to have David, Dylan's dad, come in and teach us how to draw an elf.  He is a great cartoonist and the kids were so absorbed in his lesson! Thank you for coming in!

Field Trip to Seattle ReCreative

We had a field trip at a new place called Seattle ReCreative today.  It reminded me a little of the Creation Station, but with more science and engineering type projects.

First, we made paper!

Then, we got to make our own accordion books to take home and write in.

While we waited, we got to paint, play with play dough and use their sensory tables.

Beginning our Gingerbread Unit

We started our gingerbread unit this month and it's one of my favorites! I also know it's been a favorite in the past because I have some 1st graders poking their heads in while we've been doing gingerbread activities.

In math, we took one bite of a gingerbread cookie and graphed our results.

We've also made a plan to read a different version of the gingerbread man everyday until break.  We are comparing and contrasting each story's characters, songs, and endings.

We record each day in our gingerbread journals so we can remember each story for ourselves.

More Scrolls

I promised each student that I would publish a picture of their scroll when it became taller than they were, here are some more!

In writing, we just celebrate the end of our second unit which was telling true stories.  We will do lots of gingerbread man writing activities this month and launch into our narrative storytelling unit after break.

Friendship Feast

Here are some pictures from our friendship feast with pre-k!

Making our cornbread muffins! Our 10 kids whipped out 6 dozen cornbread muffins :)
