Vowel Surgery

We practiced our vowel sounds today by having a vowel surgery day! This was inspired by Kickin It In Kindergarten.  We took our jobs super seriously and called each other Dr. the whole time.  We had to put the vowels in the right words in order to cure our patients.  We recorded all of our work in our patient charts.

The class totally ran with it and were listening to the patient's heartbeats and taking their blood pressure to help cure them!

We set the stage by playing heartbeat monitor sounds in the background, wore masks and made doctor hats.

Polar Bear Day

We had a great polar bear day yesterday, we started off with some fun polar bear rotations.  The first was making a polar bear snack using a rice cake, fronting, marshmallows and chocolate chips.  Each piece of the snack taught us something new about their eyes, ears, fur and bodies.

We also got to experiment how blubber works by putting our hand in ice water, then covering it in shortening to see how it made a difference.

Then we wrote about our experiment and drew a scientific drawing.

We played a polar bear math game.

And finally, we made paws and learned about polar bear's adaptations.

Children's Museum Field Trip

We had so much fun at our field trip to the Children's Museum today.  We first took a class where we got to play with "snow", make popsicle stick snowflakes and create snowman popper toys.  Then we got to explore the museum!
