Here are our new stations for our short week!
We are making lists of Halloween costumes that we like, working on handwriting with our wet/dry/try chalkboards, reading Ninja Red Riding Hood, doing more reader's theater, reading sentences by arranging the words, tracing, gluing and drawing them, and I got to start small reading groups today! Stations are amazing because after a few weeks of practice, the kids become super independent. That gives me an opportunity to meet with groups while the rest of the class is working.
Our small reading groups usually start with phonemic awareness, this is where we practice sounding out and blending words. Here is an example of using magic wands to break apart and blend words! We will then work on reading a book together using reading strategies and then write a response to the story.
